Joel Rumpel

Joel Rumpel comes to the Chiefs following a successful tenure as the Assistant Coach of the ECHL's Norfolk Admirals a proud affiliate of the Winnipeg Jets NHL club. Joel played as a goaltender in the BCHL with the Penticton Vees, as well as being the starter at the University of Wisconsin for four seasons before signing his first NHL contract with the San Jose Sharks. Joel went on to play 7 seasons of professional hockey before beginning his coaching career.

Joel has extensive experience developing both goaltenders and defensemen, and ran the defensive end as well as the Penalty Kill while a member of the Admirals coaching staff. Joel will be in charge of the defensemen with the Chilliwack Chiefs this year in his first BCHL season. A hard working and extremely detail oriented individual, Joel is excited to work with players in the community of all ages and will proudly pass along some of the knowledge he has gained while working in the professional hockey ranks.
